The thought of being a florist never crossed my mind.
The pandemic left me trying to facilitate school at home and I was not able to go back to the job I had before things shut down. A few years later after things had calmed down and the children were back in school I came across a job posting for seasonal help at a flower shop for Valentine’s Day. The days were incredibly long and the work was hard but I loved it. I ended up going back to help with Mother’s Day. I fell in love with flowers. I decided to take a week long design course with Michael Gaffney from the American School of Flower Design. I followed that with his Ultimate Wedding Design Class online. The shop I was working in gave me very few opportunities to design. My style was developing into something that was very different than what they did. I started looking at avenues that could lead to me having my own shop. That did not get me where I wanted to be so I opted to start my own so that I could design in the style that is my own with the varieties of flowers that I love. It gave me more freedom to mold my schedule around my busy family.
